Learn baby sign language with the Petit-Signe app
Guillaume FortinIn order to expose the child to signs... the parent must first learn and internalize them so that they can then use them with their child in the heat of the moment. Here are some tips to facilitate your learning with the Petit Signe app wherever you are, and in a short amount of time. This app allows you to watch videos of the signs. The signs are accompanied by little tips to help you memorize them.
The 'Petit Signe' app offers 2 types of viewing to learn signs with baby.
1) Continuous video viewing:
You can play a continuous video of all the signs within each category to immerse yourself in them. With this option, you'll be surprised how easy it is to learn signs in a short amount of time. Each sign is accompanied by the spoken word, a photo, and a pictogram representing the concept. This type of viewing is likely to interest your baby, which will contribute to the development of their vocabulary.
2) Alphabetical search viewing:
You can also find signs alphabetically within categories. You can challenge yourself to learn x signs/week. You can place them in the 'My Favorites' section. It can be interesting for parents to decide together on a list of priority signs they wish to integrate into their daily lives within a specific time frame (e.g., target 30 words and integrate 5 per week x 6 weeks). Gradually, try to use them a few times a day during the week at the same time you say the word. At the beginning of each week, review the signs from previous weeks and look at the new signs to integrate.
