Finally, educational books with magnetic pictograms!
Guillaume Fortin
On June 12, 2013, we returned from Bali with a ton of images that would form the basis for developing our game-books. We were far from thinking that another year would have to pass before we could launch them on the market.
Someone working in the publishing industry told us at the time that creating a book required thousands of decisions. We thought they were exaggerating a bit, but now that we have completed the process, we must agree with them. A whole year of reflection, decision-making, and problem-solving was done, a necessary step to offer a collection of game-books that meet my quality requirements (and now an application). This material facilitates language and communication learning in babies and young children by integrating pictograms and sign language.
In May 2014, we launched our website, and the response was very positive. The first photos of our game-books started circulating online, and we were ready to receive pre-orders. They didn't take long, and the first order arrived on May 13, 2014, via our website symbolicone.com. Several others followed from Quebec, France, and even Martinique. We were pleasantly surprised to see that we were already selling game-books internationally. The efforts were finally rewarded, and we had been right; our books meet a real and relevant need.

Finally, on June 12, 2014, our printer delivered the much-anticipated merchandise. With it came a task we had underestimated: the installation of the 24,000 magnetic pictograms that accompanied our books. Fortunately, we benefited from volunteer labor to help us with this colossal task... that is, my parents. Thank you, Carmen and Pierre, for your collaboration!
We finally mailed our first sets on the eve of St-Jean-Baptiste Day. We remind you that this new speech therapy material is designed to help preschool children with typical development as well as those with a language development disorder or delay. Thank you for trying our games and for giving us your feedback!
